Before the weekly crossing, Eddie packed the refillable bottle he already had.

Morag checked the plan with him before they set off.
Morag: “Enjoy the crossing. Keep your things with you.”

On the island, Ailsa showed Eddie the drinking-water refill point.
Ailsa: “Bottle ready? There’s drinking water to refill before you head off.”
For grown-ups: Ailsa shows the designated drinking-water refill point. Check the actual point and local instructions before use.

Iain showed them how the island keeps its waste safe until the next crossing.

On the way home, Malik joked that the bottle had travelled so far it needed its own ticket.

Back at the landing, Eddie still had the same bottle.
Buddy: “Before we choose a bin, could we use it again?”
Draft, 19 October 2026. The words and pictures are not yet reviewed by an educator. The story follows the outline in our story guide.
The real-life bit
Taking a bottle you already have saves buying a new one. Before you use a refill point, check it’s the real one and read the local instructions. When you visit, follow the area’s own bin rules. Gullbrae is made up. Your council’s own rules are the ones to follow.
