This is Eddie

His pals call him Big Eddie. He knows everyone on his round, remembers who likes what, and when someone asks a tricky question, he finds the friend who really knows.

“Aye, let’s ask the person who actually runs the place.”

Eddie speaks mostly Scots. Anything important is always in plain English too.

New in town: the castle

Hugo and Cecily have moved to Gullbrae to turn a tired old castle into a welcoming B&B. Some neighbours made up their minds before they met them. Then Hugo asked Stan to look at the old furniture, and Cecily asked May for her ideas.

Up at the farm

Fiona farms the hill above Gullbrae, by the wee white cottage. Hamish is her cow. Ask him what is for lunch and the answer is always the same: grass.

The wee visitors

Yes, there are two Tommys. Tommy and May run Tommy’s village store. Thomas, called Tommy by his friends, runs T Stephens the greengrocer.
