Iain checked his board. Each kind of waste had its own closed space in the yard.

He showed Eddie and Malik how everything was kept apart.

Iain’s two pictures showed the plan: keep things separate, then load them carefully.

On run day, Morag brought Eddie and Malik across.

Inside the yard, only the trained crew worked. Iain and Malik got one tidy, secure load ready.

Back outside the fence, Malik pointed to the picture of the load starting its journey.
Malik: “The right thing in the right place makes the next job easier.”
Draft, 19 October 2026. The words and pictures are not yet reviewed by an educator. The story follows the outline in our story guide.
The real-life bit
Different materials are kept apart so each can go to the right place. Waste yards are work areas: only trained staff go inside, and visitors stay outside the fence. Gullbrae is made up. Your council’s own rules are the ones to follow.
