The story

Eddie arrives at the village store holding a picture of a produce crate.

Eddie came into the village store with a question for Tommy.

Eddie: “Aye, let’s ask the person who actually runs the place.”

Tommy laughs at the picture of the produce crate.

Tommy laughed. The question was about fruit and veg crates, and he doesn’t sell those.

May points Eddie towards the door.

May pointed him towards T Stephens, the greengrocer.

Thomas, the greengrocer, holds a crate of tomatoes outside his shop and greets Eddie.

Thomas, who is also called Tommy, welcomed him to his own shop.

Eddie sits on a bench with a picture of both shops and both Tommys.

Eddie drew a picture with both Tommys and both shops, so he wouldn’t mix them up again.

Tommy, Thomas, May and Eddie share a joke.

Everyone laughed about giving directions clearly.

Draft, 19 October 2026. The words and pictures are not yet reviewed by an educator. The story follows the outline in our story guide.

The real-life bit

Two people can share a name and do very different jobs. When you need an answer, it helps to ask the person who really knows. Gullbrae is made up. Your council’s own rules are the ones to follow.
