The story

Cecily, new in Gullbrae, asks May a question at the counter.

Cecily, new in Gullbrae, asked May an ordinary recycling question.

Cecily looks worried as she talks to May.

She worried that everyone else already knew the answer.

May shows Cecily the council’s guidance on a tablet.

May was glad she’d asked, and showed her where to find the council’s own guidance.

Buddy holds a reusable bag beside Cecily.

Buddy added one simple habit: a bag to use again.

Cecily comes back with a bag and another question.

Cecily came back with another question and a friendly hello.

Cecily, Buddy, Tommy and May at the counter.

Tommy and May made learning part of feeling at home.

Draft, 19 October 2026. The words and pictures are not yet reviewed by an educator. The story follows the outline in our story guide.

The real-life bit

There are no silly questions about bins. Everyone has to check their own council’s rules, especially when they’re new to an area. Gullbrae is made up. Your council’s own rules are the ones to follow.
